Dominique received her Master’s degree in 1978 in Lille (France) and her
Ph.D. in 1983 from Colorado State University with a thesis focused on biogeochemical
cycles in the shortgrass prairie. In 1984 she went to U.C. Riverside
as a postdoc simulating nitrogen fixing shrubs in the Sonoran desert
then went two years later to New Mexico State University to simulate
Chihuahuan desert ecosytem processes. She was hired in 1988 as a
contractor for the US EPA in Corvallis (OR) to work on climate
change impacts on paddy rice ecosystems in Asia. In the Fall of 1995,
she started working as OSU faculty with a team of USFS PNW and OSU researchers developing the MC1 dynamic global vegetation model to simulate climate change impacts on global terrestrial systems. She taught a few classes at Oregon State University (OSU) as a member of the Biological and Ecological Engineering Department but in
2000, she moved to Olympia (WA), telecommuting for her work. In 2007 she joined the Nature Conservancy as director of climate change science. In 2009 she joined the Conservation Biology Institute and in 2012 she moved back to Corvallis. In 2017 she left CBI to return to Oregon State University.
