Terrestrial Weighted Conservation Target Models (RCA) - Modoc Ecoregion

Feb 26, 2019 (Last modified Jun 18, 2020)
This item is included in Data Basin, but has not been added to the SJV Gateway.
Description:
This data includes all three final outputs from the regional conservation assessment completed for the Modoc Ecoregion (not an AB 2087 RCA).

Modoc Ecoregion - All Conservation Targets

This dataset represents the weighted value of all conservation targets within the Modoc Ecoregion of California. Three branches make up the model including a species index, ecosystem index, and special habitats index. The species index includes location data, modeled habitat data, and range data for all species that are known to occur within the Modoc Ecoregion and meet the following criteria:
  • Federally endangered, threatened, rare, or candidate T&E species;
  • State endangered or threatened;
  • CDFW status of rare, watchlist, fully protected, or on the State Wildlife Action Plan list of species of greatest conservation need;
  • CNPS plant rank of 1B or 2B;
  • Any species listed by natureserve state ranks of S1 or S2, and natureserve global ranks of G1 or G2.
The ecosystem index includes location data for all natureserve state ranks S1 and S2 alliances within the Modoc Ecoregion. The special habitats index includes location data for habitats that meet the following criteria (selected based upon expert opinion):
  • Lakes;
  • Ponds;
  • Aspen;
  • Annual and perennial grasslands;
  • Northern interior cypress forests;
  • Northern basalt flow vernal pools.
All inputs into the model were ranked based upon either natureserve state and global ranks or based upon their general conservation value. The ranking was as follows:
  • S1G1 (weighted to a value of 8);
  • S1G2 (weighted to a value of 7);
  • S2G2 (weighted value of 6);
  • S1G3-G5 (weighted value of 5);
  • S2G3-G5 (weighted value of 4);
  • S3G3 (weighted value of 3);
  • S3G4G5 (weighted value of 2);
  • S4S5 or not ranked (weighted value of 1).
Modoc Ecoregion - Conservation Targets with Legal Protection

This dataset represents the weighted value of all conservation targets within the Mojave Ecoregion of California with a legal status. Two branches make up the model including a species index and special habitats index. The species index includes location data, modeled habitat data, and range data for all species that are known to occur within the Mojave Ecoregion and meet the following criteria:
  • Federally endangered, threatened;
  • State endangered or threatened;
The ecosystem index includes location data for all natureserve state ranks S1 and S2 alliances within the Mojave Ecoregion. The special habitats index includes location data for habitats that meet the following criteria (selected based upon expert opinion):
  • Lakes;
  • Ponds.
All inputs into the model were ranked based upon either natureserve state and global ranks or based upon their general conservation value. The ranking was as follows:
  • S1G1 (weighted to a value of 8);
  • S1G2 (weighted to a value of 7);
  • S2G2 (weighted value of 6);
  • S1G3-G5 (weighted value of 5);
  • S2G3-G5 (weighted value of 4);
  • S3G3 (weighted value of 3);
  • S3G4G5 (weighted value of 2);
  • S4S5 or not ranked (weighted value of 1).
Modoc Ecoregion - Top 5 Conservation Target Groups

This dataset represents the weighted value of all conservation targets within the Modoc Ecoregion of California from the top five state and global rank groups. Three branches make up the model including a species index, ecosystem index, and special habitats index. The species index includes location data, modeled habitat data, and range data for all species that are known to occur within the Modoc Ecoregion and meet the following criteria:
  • Federally endangered, threatened, rare, or candidate T&E species;
  • State endangered or threatened;
  • CDFW status of rare, watchlist, fully protected, or on the State Wildlife Action Plan list of species of greatest conservation need;
  • CNPS plant rank of 1B or 2B;
  • Lakes;
  • Ponds;
  • Aspen;
  • Annual and perennial grasslands;
  • Northern interior cypress forests;
  • Northern basalt flow vernal pools.
All inputs into the model were ranked based upon either natureserve state and global ranks or based upon their general conservation value. The ranking was as follows:
  • S1G1 (weighted to a value of 8);
  • S1G2 (weighted to a value of 7);
  • S2G2 (weighted value of 6);
  • S1G3-G5 (weighted value of 5);
  • S2G3-G5 (weighted value of 4).
